About the Project
How the Nanas are created:
The Nanas are 235 ladies and non-binary people who have been created with AI. The program that is used to create the Nanas is called Midjourney and enables us to send them on adventures all over the world. While the images you see on Instagram are not real, the idea almost definitely is.
What the Nanas stand for:
The Nanas are here to show that life does not have to be boring after reaching 50. They show that all you need to live a good life is a smile, loads of curiosity and great friends. The Nanas have all sorts of Nationalities, Gender Identities and are open minded. All of them have lifed moving lifes and are here to remind you that life isn't bad after all.
Our Story
Hi! I am Sam and I am the Creator behind The Funky Nanas. I am a Social Media Manager and mom of two from Germany who enjoys working with AI.
My role in this was completely coincidental. I once posted an AI generated series of older ladies in puddles and the internet went nuts. After receiving tons of messages from older ladies who finally felt seen and appreciated, I sat with that thought for while and then the idea of The Funky Nanas was born.
Ever since then, the Nanas bring joy to your newsfeeds while subtly but steadily planting the message of embracing age and diversity.
Even though they are not real, the Nanas really grew on me and each have a personality, a story and a past.
